2. Ramadan Prayers
Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar and it is believed to be a sacred month for Muslims. It is a month of fasting and extra worship. Muslims observe long hours of fasting during this holy month from waking up in the early hours for a quick bite and sip of water, to the waiting for the seconds to tick by until the call to prayer at sunset. Our Bangladesh Muslim residence make up 36% of the dormitory population. Singapore Police Force together with TG25 management have rolled out special initiatives for their care this month, such as appointing in-house Bangladeshi workers as Imams to lead the prayer sessions and translations of Islamic Irsyad (religious decree) into Bengali for Bangladeshi majority during the prayers. Ramadan prayers has been our yearly traditional event where we specially create open spaces within our premises to cater for our Muslim residents where they can have
their daily night prayers during the fasting month and also to cater the morning prayers on the first day of Eid.
